Belgium's body music; the record that fed both techno and industrial
A bloodline record on a list like this, and the bloodline is real. Front 242 make EBM physical enough to feed both industrial and techno on Front by Front. The sequencers and shouted vocals run straight into Belgian new beat, R&S and later rave, carrying the band's own mechanical funk the whole way. 'Headhunter' still detonates, thirty-five years and several genres later.
№ 1 on The 10 Best Industrial and EBM Albums
EBM's peak and the missing link between industrial and the harder end of the dancefloor. Mechanical, confrontational and considerably funkier than three decades of imitators have managed.
