Filter house as a concept album about consumerism

Consumerism gives Super Discount its frame, but Étienne de Crécy is too sensible to let the concept get in the way of the tracks. Filters pump, loops tighten and the jokes stay light on their feet. The sleeve does the commentary; the basslines do the selling.

№ 3 on The 10 Best French House Albums

The cheapest-sounding great record in this canon, and deliberately. De Crecy loops a bar, filters it, and declines to add anything for six minutes at a time. Prix Choc is the one everyone knows and the restraint is the achievement.
