James Stinson alone, without Gerald Donald and without Drexciya's rules, making something warmer than that project ever permitted. Melodies left exposed, drums soft enough to sleep through, and a tenderness nobody expected from that quarter. He died in 2002, the year after it came out, which is hard to hear past now.
