Mat Steel and Mark Fell reduced garage and R&B to clicks, geometry and silence, working from Sheffield with something close to mathematical patience. Fell has since built a substantial career in sound art and academia. Tenderlove, spelled as the 2002 first pressing has it, has been a producers' record ever since: admired more than played.
