He was working in a York record shop when he started making melodic techno for GPR, a label that has aged into cult status while barely anyone noticed at the time. Two albums chart, Basic Data Manipulation and Texturology. Both hold their own against the Warp releases they were orbiting, which was not a given for a producer that far from Sheffield.
