Black Strobe's frontman went solo, filled a room with analogue synthesizers, and refused to open a laptop. He plays techno the way other people play rock, sweating over a modular rig, and later picked up a César for the 120 BPM score. Someone Gave Me Religion is that approach at album length: French techno with a pulse rather than a grid.
