Pulse of Defiance moves between techno, jungle and jazz with unusual looseness. Yoshinori Hayashi collides rhythmic ideas instead of smoothing them into a single genre. The unpredictability is exactly what gives the record its character. Twelve tracks swinging between two and nine minutes, with 'Touch' the longest and placed fourth.
