DJ Shadow producing Thom Yorke and Mike D still sounds like a late-nineties fever dream. Psyence Fiction does not fully cohere, but its collisions are the point: famous voices, dark production and a scale larger than the songs can always hold. When it works, the excess is thrilling; when it doesn't, the failure is at least interesting.
