Acid Mt. Fuji

Acid Mt. Fuji is Japanese acid, entirely its own thing, nothing in Europe sounded like this, Susumu Yokota building acid techno with a distinctly Japanese sensibility. It's a record that takes the 303 somewhere meditative and strange, less about the rush than about texture and atmosphere, and it stands apart from everything the Western acid scene was doing. It ranks at a hundred and seventy-five because it's a singular curiosity, but the singularity is the point, and it's genuinely unlike anything else here.
