Alien

Larry Heard takes his melodic gift somewhere colder on Alien. The deep-house warmth is still detectable, but the familiar softness has been pulled into stranger, more spacious shapes, as though Mr Fingers had wandered out past the edge of the club. Heard sounds curious here, not displaced. The trade is warmth for atmosphere: few house producers ever reached this far out.
